What Works in Workforce…And Can I Afford It?
As they develop strategic plans and set funding priorities, workforce development boards must prioritize strategies that have the greatest impact and return on investment. But how do they know what these strategies are and how much they cost?
The Pathways to Work Evidence Clearinghouse, funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services & Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation, provides a comprehensive, transparent, and systematic assessment of evidence on programs to improve employment-related outcomes for individuals with low incomes. Pathways to Work is currently revising evidence standards and developing new cost study standards that can help boards identify evidence-based programs and strategies and determine how much they will cost. In this session, presenters will introduce new cost standards and inform the audience how to use data on program costs, in combination with evidence on program impacts, to make evidence-informed decisions; Lead a live, interactive demonstration on how to use the Find Interventions That Work tool on the Pathways to Work website to identify effective programs and strategies.
