Professional Bio

Kelly Middleton Banks is the Director of Programs and Initiatives at the National Association of Workforce Boards. In this role, Banks is responsible for program design and establishing partnerships to support workforce development boards in implementing strategies and best practices to advance workforce and economic development locally and nationally.

Banks manages NAWB’s Workforce Initiatives such as Family Centered Employment, Advancing Retail Engagement, expanding apprenticeship, and increasing industry and business engagement with the workforce development system. Her professional focus has been to advance opportunities for marginalized populations through healthcare, education, and workforce development. Prior to joining NAWB, Banks managed a $6M portfolio to expand medical research and education to improve the care for older adults at the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine.

Previously, Banks worked at the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) providing technical assistance for TRIO programs and managing national grants to promote high school graduation and post-secondary education amongst low-income students.

Banks holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from DePauw University, a Master of Education in Education Leadership from Concordia University, and a Certificate in Public and Nonprofit Executive Management from Georgetown University.
